Negros Oriental – Ten (10) local government units in Negros Oriental received technical assistance as the National Nutrition Council Region VII conducts a two-day LGU mentoring activity on 06 - 07 December 2021.

Thirty (30) HRH for Nutrition and NNC 7 regional nutrition staff bolted in to visit the municipalities of Bacong, Bindoy, Jimalalud, La Libertad, Mabinay, Manjuyod, Siaton, Sibulan, Sta Catalina and Zamboanguita. Each team composed of three members checked the status of the local nutrition committee functionality as well as the records and documents of the LGU they visited. Technical assistance was also provided to further mobilize LGUs for better nutrition outcomes. The activity also served as good opportunity for mentoring local nutrition workers in their roles for the nutrition program in their locality.

In her message, NPC Dr. Parolita A. Mission commended the team for willingly sharing their personal experiences and unique strategies to help improve the nutrition program management of the LGUs visited. She also encouraged the mentoring team to apply their learnings from the activity in their areas of assignment.

LGU mobilization program is a strategy of the National Nutrition Council which serves as a part of the enabling programs under the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition. Said strategy provides opportunities for technical assistance to local nutrition workers and local nutrition committees to further enhance the management of the nutrition program.

The activity was capped with a processing of the general findings and sharing of good practices for possible replication, and an orientation on LGU Shepherding and Practical Tips by NO III Nasudi G. Soluta. // NO II Norre Jean V. delos Santos
