Inabanga, Bohol - The Central Visayas Nutrition Cluster headed to the municipality of Inabanga Bohol on their third day of the visit to the province after Typhoon Odette made its landfall hit the province on the evening of 16 December 2021. The municipality of Inabanga is one of the hardly hit areas in the worst disaster that hit the province. The team was composed of ND II Suzette Salado of DOH CV CHD/NNC 7, NOs I Christine Lopez and Gabriel Flores of NNC 7, and the Bohol PNFP Arnold Bongcac Jr. They were joined by HRH-N deployed in Bohol NDs II Franz Cassandra Ontina, Annie Claire Anasco, Jocefel Callet and Marcel John Cartin.
The team made a courtesy call with the Mayor Josephine Socorro C. Jumamoy after checking in at the Municipal Operations Center. The team, divided in pairs went to the Barangays Lawis and Tungod, two areas that were greatly affected by the storm surge brought by the typhoon. MNPC Grace Vida Samaco-Salazar guided the team during the barangay visitation.
The team provided nutrition in emergency services to affected population including rapid nutrition assessment of children and pregnant women, Vitamin A supplementation and breastfeeding counselling. All children and pregnant women assessed have normal nutritional status. However, rapid nutrition assessment will be continued by the municipal nutrition cluster the following weeks to closely monitor the nutritional status of the children and pregnant women and ensure non-deterioration of their nutrition situation. // NO I Christine April M.
