Manjuyod, Negros Oriental--The Municipal Nutrition Committee {MNC} of Manjuyod in Negros Oriental conducted a three-day Nutrition Program Management (NPM) training and planning workshop. The training organized in three batches was attended by the members of the planning core groups of the twenty-seven (27) barangays and the members of the MNC. The training took place recently at the Aroma Beach Resort, Campuyo, Manjuyod Negros Oriental.
The topics discussed were Understanding Food and Nutrition, NiEM Orientation, Parts of the NIEM Plan and Service Package, Integrating Nutrition Management in Local Governance and Development, Nutrition Program Management: Plan Preparation and Adoption, and the First 1000 Days program, among others.
Many of the participants have obtained a greater understanding of the nutrition program and its influence on individual health and community development as a result of inputs from pre-recorded sessions by the NNC 7 staff and workshops facilitated by HRH for Nutrition. As a result, the participants were able to update their local nutrition situation, highlighted priority nutrition initiatives, and firmed up their workplan budgets.
The planning-workshop concluded with the workplan presentation and feedback from the participants. The Barangay Captain of Brgy. Bagtic expressed his willing to adopt the first 1000 days program in his barangay after realizing the importance of investing in nutrition. The Barangay Secretary of Brgy. Panciao for his part shared that they would increase their budget allocation for nutrition and consider other interventions aside from the usual Pabasa sa Nutrisyon.
The three batches of capability building activities, which were conducted weekly from 24 November and completed on 15 December 2021, would not have been possible without the unwavering support from the Municipal Mayor and MNC Chair Hon. Felix A. Sy, MD, MHO/MNAO Dr. Anthony R. Martinez and PHN/MNPC Rubyette Pyponco-Acabal with the latter who continually monitored the sessions.
With the members of the municipal and barangay nutrition committees equipped with key concepts of NPM, they are now ready in their fight against malnutrition and development challenges the current situation brings. // ND II Raya Faith A. Luce, RND
