Maribojoc, Bohol - Incomprehensible joy was felt by the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) in Maribojoc, Bohol after hearing the good news that they will get an honorarium from the municipal budget starting July to December 2021 and onwards.
Municipal Nutrition Committee Chair and Mayor Engr. Romulo A. Manuta, approved such benefits after realizing the critical role BNSs and BHWs play in the social development agenda of the town.The decision came about after the relentless advocacy efforts made by Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Dr. Rey Perpetuo G. Belderol and Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator Mrs. Hermosila P. Abella with the backing from the Municipal Budget Officer Mrs. Evelyn C. Jugo.
The municipal honorarium serves as counterpart of what the BNSs and BHWs receives from their respective barangays. One good news is that the budget allocation for BNS honorarium will be increased annually after the BNS Program as integrated in the Municipal Development Plan and Annual Investment Program.
After preparing all the documentary requirements, the frontline workers finally realized what they wish for when on 1st week of January 2022, they got hold of their monies covering July to December 2021. Indeed, service without counting the return will bear fruit as the immeasurable services done by these volunteers help make Maribojoc children healthier, taller and brilliant through the First 1000 Days interventions. // ND II Annie Claire B.
