Anasco 2.2

San Miguel, Bohol - The Municipal Nutrition Cluster (MNCl) of this interior town spearheaded by the Municipal Mayor Virgilio Mendez with the active members MNAO Dr. Janilane D. Abellar and MNPC Clarissa C. Orevillo, RN and other members met on 14 December 2021 to work on a nutrition in emergency mission. Discussed were the MDRMM budget for response, NiE activities and functions of each member and contingency plan.

The aftermath of Super Typhoon Odette was indeed a devastation. San Miguel was one of the hardly hit areas with 18 of its barangays affected. Six (6) casualties and 172 injuries were reported.

Anasco 2.3

Prior to the MNCl meeting, on 11 January 2022 MNPC Orevillo mobilized all their 18 Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) to conduct immediate nutrition in emergency response. Using the Regional Nutrition Cluster Advisory, she reoriented the BNSs of the minimum service package and gave instructions to review the master list of lactating and pregnant mothers. After the meeting, the BNSs were deployed by teams to conduct Rapid Nutrition Assessment, distributed Nutri Love cereals a dietary supplementation program for 6-23 months old, to gave Vitamin A micronutrient supplementation and counseled antenatal and lactating mothers.

Nutrition Cluster member from the Health Office gave lectures on water, sanitation and hygiene and the MSWDO together with the MNPC conducted household visitation and found out that the LGU and NGO assistance combined is not sufficient to some families who belongs to the poorest of the poor. MSWD provided financial assistance however, an acute need is felt by the indigent sector of the municipality, Hence, they are appealing for support to help them build back better. // ND II Annie Claire B.
