Cebu City – With its goal to continue providing updates and technical assistance to the nutrition program managers in the region, the National Nutrition Council Region VII facilitated the 1st Regional Management Conference s 2022 on 27-28 January 2022 via zoom conference call.
The two-day virtual conference was attended by thirty-three (33) city and municipal nutrition action officers and district/city/municipal nutrition program coordinators from all over the region.
NNC 7 Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Parolita A. Mission who presided the conference expressed her gratitude to all the participants who joined the two-day activity and encouraged everyone to openly share their good and unique nutrition strategies as well as the challenges that they encountered and how they overcome these.
Dr. Mission along with the NNC 7 technical staff shared current updates along Nutrition Program Planning & Policy Formulation, Nutrition Surveillance, Nutrition Information and Education, and Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program.
Among the main concerns elaborated on were the local nutrition committee & cluster updates, the 2022 proposed RNC resolutions, LGU mobilization strategies, 2021 & 2022 OPT Plus status and reminders, 2022 MELLPI Pro schedules, the 2022 Social and Behavior Change Communication, and TKSP Phase 3 and 4 social preparation activities.
The meeting also provided venue for the three provinces who were heavily affected by super typhoon Odette to share their nutrition in emergency responses. The conference ended with a virtual team building where each participant showcased their fun and interactive side.
The Central Visayas nutrition prime movers are looking forward to the success and accomplishments of its 2022 targets and see each other face-to-face as the region is set to have its second meeting in Dumaguete City once travel restriction will ease up. // NO II Norre Jean V. Delos Santos
