Cebu City – The Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) virtually convened on 22 February 2022, via Zoom. The meeting was attended by 27 participants coming from the different member agencies. Representatives of the four provinces and highly urbanized cities of Central Visayas, who are non-voting members also joined the meeting.
Part of the agenda during the meeting was the approval of the 2022 RNC Workplan that was drafted by the RNC-Technical Working Group during their 1st RNC-TWG Meeting on 18-19 January 2022. The work plan will serve as a guide for the members to perform their roles and contribution to the achievement of RPAN objectives. Particularly the work plan can serve as a roadmap for members to perform their tasks along with policy-making, monitoring, and evaluation, advocacy, technical assistance, and coordination.
As agreed by the technical arm of the RNC, the goals for 2022 include (a) strengthened RNC functionality and coordination as manifested by 60% attendance of member agencies in all 2022 RNC activities; (b) 85% of RNC-member NGAs and CSOs are implementing the developmental program with nutrition objectives, considerations or components; (c) 50% of the Provincial Nutrition Committees and 90% of City Nutrition Committees in Central Visayas are at least partially functional; and (d) reduction of stunting by at least 0.8%, reduction of wasting by at least 0.1% and no increase for underweight and overweight using OPT Plus results.
