RNC members share Increased Accomplishment in 2021

Cebu City – The National Nutrition Council Region VII, the Secretariat of the interagency Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) noted increased accomplishments of its member agencies. This was noted during the 1st Semester RNC Full Committee Meeting held on 22 February 2022 via zoom platform.

Annually, a Regional Nutrition Committee Work Plan is drafted by the RNC-Technical Working Group and approved by the RNC Full Committee as a guide for the Committee’s activities for the year. The plans are also evaluated annually based on a set of criteria. During the meeting attended by 27 representatives, several members have shared their agency’s nutrition specific, nutrition sensitive and enabling programs that can be considered as the team’s accomplishments. 

Additional achievement as shared by Ms. Kristine S. Jocson of NEDA 7 is the RSDC-approved resolution on the BNS/BHW incentives. Furthermore, additional accomplishments were also contributed DA RFO 7 and DepEd 7 on their Body Mass Index (BMI) Assessment and Nutrition Counselling for their respective employees. This is RNC-initiated projected which started in 2017. 

To further promote proper nutrition. Ms. Marichu D. Baclay of DOST 7 shared their 2022 plans on procuring Pinggang Pinoy ref magnets and the orientation on the usage of WYD kits at the provincial level. Also, Commission on Population and Development 7’s social media initiatives for 2022 will be tweaked to add nutrition consideration in their programs and activities for teenage pregnant women and women of reproductive age. Pingang Pinoy promotion will also be heightened by DSWD RFO 7 as per TWG member Ms. Romilene A. Padilla.
