Cebu City – The National Nutrition Council Region 7, through ND II Shaira Camille T. Labastida, attended the virtual meeting of the Social Development Committee of PPDO Negros Oriental on February 15, 2022, via Microsoft Teams. The meeting was attended by 20 participants from the different member agencies and stakeholders.
ND II Labastida presented to the body the three proposed programs and projects (PAPs) of NNC 7 for 2023 for implementation in Negros Oriental:
- Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program, a dietary supplementation program for nutritionally-at-risk pregnant women for a duration of 90-days and 06-23 months old children for a duration of 180 days, with a budget allocation of Php 7,371,000.00 for 11 local government units (LGUs) in Negros Oriental.
- Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Program, where volunteer nutrition workers are tasked to deliver nutrition and nutrition-related services to the barangay by caring for the malnourished and the nutritionally vulnerable, mobilizing the community, and linkage building, with a budget allocation of Php 681,000.00 for 568 BNSs in Negros Oriental.
- HRH for Nutrition, or trained Human Resources for Health, provides technical assistance to assigned LGUs to improve nutrition program implementation, with a proposed budget allocation of Php 3,109,245.00 for five deployed HRH-N.
The proposed 2023 PAPs have a total amount of Php 11,161,845.00. It was then approved by the body for endorsement to the Negros Oriental Provincial Development Council and the Regional Development Council VII. //ND II Labastida
