Siaton, Negros Oriental – The newly reorganized Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) of this considered ‘rice bowl’ of south Negros affirmed their support and participation in the Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program (TKSP) for children six to 23 months old in the municipality. This move was one of the agreements during the 28 February 2022 meeting presided by Hon. Cezanne Fritz H. Diaz and was participated by 15 members of MNC.
With the presentation of the Operation Timbang 2021 results and recognizing the need to cover all barangays, the MNC decided to add and purchase additional food commodities to cover all eligible children as the LGU counterpart of the NNC-initiated TKSP.
During the meeting, Dr. Marie Corinth A. Lim was also appointed as the new Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) and Mrs. Cape Jazz N. Gadiane as the Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator. MNAO Dr. Lim introduced to the body the objectives of the supplementation program and how the children and their families can benefit from it. She further shared the salient points of NNC-LGU Memorandum of Agreements and the Tutok Kainan guidelines.
With MNC’s all-out support to the program, MNAO Dr. Lim and the entire MNC is positive that the nutrition landscape of this beautiful rural municipality will be further improved. ND II Niña Estela Lindsay Romero, RND
