sweat

Cebu City – Exercise is a powerful tool to maintain and achieve a healthy lifestyle. Some people no matter how busy they are at their daily routine; luckily, can insert on their schedule a quick workout to sweat out. Traditionally, people believed that working out or doing physical activity every now and then would help them reduce health problems, increase strength, increase energy, and can aid with stress reduction. Not only that, but they also assumed that working out will help lose or maintain weight or get toned. However, the real question that lies there is that do you have to sweat to see the workout results?

Sweating also called perspiration is a body’s way to regulate body temperature while doing something or merely because it’s hot. During the workout, people sweat excessively as the body tries to cool down since while doing rigorous physical activity, the body is building higher temperatures that can cause it to heat up. Unfortunately, oftentimes, people use sweating as a barometer to measure that their workout actually “worked out”. To break your hopes or beliefs, it does not necessarily mean that “no sweating” is “not effective”. According to a certified personal trainer, using sweat to measure the effectiveness of your workout is largely insignificant. As you work out more vigorously, your perspiration rate tends to rise. However, factors like the temperature, what you're wearing, and how well you're hydrating all play a role in sweating. Thus, it does not necessarily tell you that what you did during your workout is effective. To put it simply, sweating is not automatically the most telling sign for an effective workout.

Instead of using sweat as your indicator, here are some things you should take note of to know if your workout does work.

  • You got the toned. Lifting those weights does not go to waste when your workout is effective. The best result after all those heavy lifts is that you get toned and this is the best indicator that your workout is effective.
  • Your physical stamina is improving. If you are new in doing your workout, during the first session you did notice that you easily get tired. However, when you religious do your work out, you will notice that you can move for longer periods of time before becoming exhausted.
  • You get better sleep. According to some studies, a good workout would also mean a good sleep at night.
  • You are less tired after doing it. Although your body is racing or shaking after an intense workout, you do not feel the same level of tiredness as you first started doing it. In fact, working out does even increase your energy throughout the day as all those endorphins begin to build up.
  • You are up for a new challenge. As you religiously do your workout, it is effective as you now seek for a new challenge to level up your routine. This could also mean that you are building strength.

To encapsulate, not because you are sweating hard, your workout means that it is effective. You must be sensible enough to know the signs to achieve not just its effectiveness but also its quality. Not only that, but it is also important to remember to pair your workout with a good diet. // AA VI Ronalyn C. Dela Cerna
