Cebu City - The Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development 7 (MIND 7), the official media network for nutrition in Central Visayas defined their priorities for 2022. This was done during the first blended organizational meeting of the association for the year held on 18 March 2022.
The MIND 7 officers agreed to focus on debunking the myth that Filipinos are genetically short or stunted and First 1000 Days of a child’s life is crucial for a healthier, taller, and brilliant children as key messages that the 2022 Social Behavior Change and Communication plan will carry. Target audience and communication strategies were also firmed up. The meeting was presided by its president, Ms. Mitchelle L. Palabusanon from The Freeman. The 2022 Nutrition Month, 2021 OPT plus results, salt monitoring results, and the nutrition response for typhoon Odette were also shared to the attending participants.
NPC Dr. Parolita A. Mission in her message during the meeting reiterated her challenge to the media practitioners to help NNC’s campaign to arrest the crawling increase of nutrition indices and improve the nutrition landscape in Central Visayas. She emphasized on the power of the media to educate the populace towards healthy food choices and healthy eating. Moreso, to influence policy makers to invest in nutrition especially with the full implementation of the Mandanas-Garcia Supreme Court ruling that increases the financial muscles of LGUs.
MIND 7 is composed of group of media practitioners from TV, radio, print, the internet and information officers of national government agencies and local government units in Central Visayas organized by NNC 7 to help sustain efforts for nutrition advocacy and promotion in the region. // ND II James Aaron S.
