Cebu City - The Regional Nutrition Committee thru the National Nutrition Council Region VII conducted nutrition counselling among employees of the Department of Agrarian Reform Region VII (DAR 7) on 15 March 2022. The NNC 7 team composed of Nutrition Officers I Gabriel M. Flores and Christine M. Lopez, and Nutritionist-Dietitian II James Aaron S. Perez screened the weight of personnel using body mass index (BMI) and counseled those obese and overweight on the suggested lifestyle modification and proposed diet plan to follow. Employees with normal weights were encouraged to maintain their healthy lifestyle practices.

DAR 7’s Regional Director Romeo L. Reyes graced the activity and was also counseled by ND II Perez. About forty to fifty (40-50) employees were served during the activity.

Common concern of members of the workforce was their lack of physical activity of which the team proposed to conduct a regular Zumba break/dance break during their day. The suggested activity could help increase blood circulation, improve mood, and release stress among the employees. The team also advised to offer healthy food option in the canteen of the agency.

BMI and nutrition counseling is an annual activity of the RNC offered as part of the nutrition service to its members.

As agency’s gesture of appreciation for the information they learned and services rendered, certificates were given by RD Reyes to the team. // NO I Christine April M. Lopez, RND
