Bindoy, Negros Oriental - The Municipal Nutrition Committee thru the Municipal Health Office headed by Dra. Estela B. Tuse, Municipal Health Officer/Municipal Nutrition Action Officer of this 3rd class municipality has recently hired new set of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs). Twelve (12) BNSs were added to the eleven (11) frontline nutrition workers who were earlier recruited to coordinate the nutrition program in their respective barangays. The mass hiring was proposed by the Expanded Local Health Board & Municipal Nutrition Committee Meeting and subsequently approved by the Local Chief Executive when all the 23 old BNSs quitted and chose to become Barangay Health Workers.
MNAO Dr. Tuse expressed her appreciation for the immediate response of the MNC Chair and Municipal Mayor to hire nutrition workers for the barangays and are very hopeful that by next time they can hire additional BNSs to make sure that each barangay will have its own BNS to focus on the nutrition program. She ended her message by wishing the BNSs good luck and to enjoy the community service.
The new BNSs will cover barangays Atotes, Bulod, Camdulas, Canluto, Danao, Malaga, Manseje, Nalundan, Poblacion, Tagaytay, & Tinaogan. The newly hired nutrition workers like the other BNSs will receive an honorarium of Php 1,800.00 per month.
