Resistance or Cardio

Cebu City When trying to lose weight, always remember the importance of proper nutrition and exercise. These two are inseparable as they go hand and hand to ensure the full care of our bodies. A big question when we start to exercise or contemplate about starting to exercise is what is the best type of exercise to do?

There are two common types of exercise that an individual can start: resistance exercise/weightlifting and cardio-endurance exercise/aerobic exercise. Both are equally important in keeping our body fit. But if we are to differentiate the two, resistance exercise is using weight/brute force resistance to build muscle, and in some aspect endurance and in the process of doing it repeatedly and consistently, the muscles become stronger.

For aerobic exercise or more commonly called as cardio, mainly focuses on increasing heart rate, and makes your lungs work harder than normal.

In the nutrition aspect, whatever you need to do in the process of losing weight healthily, maintaining weight, or healthily gaining weight the type of exercise doesn’t matter because consistent exercise in general is what helps get rid of what our metabolism doesn’t need.

Pair it with good nutrition with the whole concept of Moderation, Variety and Balance (MOVABA), the best exercise you ever do for fat loss or healthy weight loss is the one that you’re most consistent with.

Build a good mindset with proper dietary decisions and habits, and set in the mentality that healthily losing weight, or healthily gaining weight shouldn’t be the only reason you exercise. The process of maintaining the habit will always be your challenge. // NO I Gab Flores, RND
