Cebu City – The Central Visayas Association of Nutrition Action Officers, Inc. firmed up their priorities for CY 2022 during the association’s 1st organizational meeting for the year held on 29 April 2022 via zoom conference. The meeting presided by the newly elected President and Bais CNAO Dr. Ma. Corazon Cablao was attended by forty (40) participants.
The meeting’s agenda focuses on the programs and projects that the association will undertake for the year including their institutionalized special project for Nutrition Month, preparation for the 17th Regional Congress of NAOs, assistance to the MNAO associations of the four provinces in Central Visayas and activities to strengthen the association.
Assistant Secretary and NNC Executive Director IV Dr. Azucena M. Dayanghirang graced the meeting and inducted the new set of officers during the meeting. A/Sec Dr. Dayanghirang in her inspirational message said that “This is the beginning of your greatest responsibilities, as NAO of your respective LGUs. I would encourage every one of you to scale up (more) or really put an effort in emphasizing efficient and effective implementation of the nutrition program.”
Nutrition Action Officers are designated, or permanent functionaries of local government units (provincial, city and municipal) charged to coordinate the overall management of the local nutrition program in their communities. The association of NAOs in Central Visayas meet regularly to discuss the implementation of local nutrition plans and its contribution to achievement of the objectives of the Philippine and Regional Plan of Action for Nutrition, share updates relevant to program performance, deliberate on operational concerns of members and converse on organizational matters. The association through their individual and collective efforts hopes to contribute to the improvement of the nutritional status in Central Visayas especially in stunting.
