Alegria, Cebu – The Cebu Provincial Nutrition Committee gave an orientation session to new nutrition personnel of Alegria. The activity was held on 21 April 2022 at the Conference Hall of the Rural Health Unit of the said town. ND II Loreza Mae Lapinid and ND I Sheila Mae Awing facilitated the orientation conference.   

The morning session covered BNS mandate, roles, and function of BNS, BNAO and BNC and review on taking of anthropometric measurement. This was attended by RHMPP Focal for Nutrition Ms. Julebi Anhao, and the twelve (12) Barangay Nutrition Scholars of the municipality.

The afternoon session discussed micronutrient supplementation program (ferrous sulfate, micronutrient powder, vitamin A), the guidelines of Ready to Use Supplementary Food and Ready to Use Therapeutic Food, reports, and documents to be submitted like OPT Report, LNC Functionality, PPAN accomplishment report, directories, capacity mapping and updated BNS master list. The Municipal and Barangay Nutrition Action Plans, and Municipal Nutrition Committee meetings were also elaborated in the afternoon session with participants that included the newly designated MNAO Dr. Clarissa O. Cardona, new MNPC Rosa Darlenita Chua, and RHU staff.

The activity ended with the enthusiasm by the participants to pursue a more vibrant implementation of the nutrition program in the municipality. // ND II Irene M. Umagap, RND
