CDU Minglanilla Endorsement

Minglanilla, Cebu – The Municipal Nutrition Committee of “Sugat Capital” of the South formally welcomes the ten (10) student-interns of the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (BSND) for their public health nutrition exposure in the area. The activity was held on 25 April 2022.

MNAO Mae M. Vicente in her message warmly welcomes the students who were accompanied by their Professor Eldie P. Gugudan. MNPC Ria A. Bacus, NDDP Juan Viktor V. Filamor, and NDP focal persons for Nutrition, Chelsie A. Papas and Eva Louie B. Labajos, also expressed their warm hospitality to the BSND interns. The Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) of barangays where they will be assigned were also present to greet and get to know the interns. They concluded the day by setting their agreed-upon schedule of activities.

The students were then turned over to their assigned barangays particularly Barangay Vito, Tubod, Tungkil, and Tunghaan. They were then acquainted with their respective rural health midwives and BNSs. Later that day, they paid a courtesy call to Mayor Elanito A. Peña who also greeted the interns.

These students will comply with their 300-hour exposure until 10 June 2022. Their activities would include barangay level nutrition assessment and validate the OPT Plus results, help formulate or update the Barangay Nutrition Action Plan prepared by the BNC as needed, help implement the same especifically in the conduct of nutrition education classes and monitoring of identified SAM and MAM cases, and provide assistance in the conduct of barangay policy, planning, and surveillance functions.

NNC 7 is identified by the CDU as their valuable partner in preparing the students in the field of public health nutrition. The university is confident that the BSND interns would appreciate public health nutrition and get a holistic learning experience despite the challenges given by the pandemic situation. // ND II Juan Viktor V.
