Mabinay, Negros Oriental – The Municipal Nutrition Committee of this “Cave capital of the Philippines” conducted a Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro) Roll-out Training to the members of its technical working group. The activity was held on 18-19 May 2022 at the Mabinay Spring Resort Function Hall, Mabinay, Negros Oriental. The technical working group are composed of representatives of the MNC members. ND II Shaira Calumpang and ND II Raya Faith Luce facilitated the said capability building sessions.

The two-day training covered brief overview of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition 2017-2022, barangay nutrition committee and barangay nutrition scholars’ roles and functions, introduction to key features of the MELLPI Pro, mechanics of MELLPI Pro and the forms to be used in the evaluation. On the second day, discussion and hands-on training on the Local Government Nutrition Monitoring using the E-tool. Simulation of the MELLPI Pro for the barangays was also conducted.

The participants were divided into two teams and each team was assigned to conduct a desk review and team processing for barangays Dahile and Dagbasan. After the desk review, each team has presented their findings and recommendations to the members of the barangay nutrition committee.

Mabinay is set to conduct MELLPI Pro to all barangays this year to be able to monitor, evaluate and provide technical assistance to the barangay nutrition committees. Orientation to all barangay’s captains about MELLPI Pro will be MNC’s next step as preparatory stage for its full implementation in the municipality. // Shaira Vita A. Calumpang, RND
