Cebu City- Conducted annually to campaign for the dissemination of correct health and nutrition information, the National Nutrition Council Region VII (NNC 7) is once again, set to launch this year’s Nutrition Month Social Media Campaign with a localized hashtag #NewtritionMonth2022.

Emphasizing on the need to build public awareness of the importance of nutrition in building resilience and recovery from the pandemic, NNC 7 hopes to gain a wider coverage by taking advantage of the popularity of social media outlets primarily Facebook (click here for NNC 7’s Facebook page)

With an exciting line-up for said social media campaign all focusing on this year’s Nutrition Month theme: “New Normal na Nutrisyon, Sama-samang Gawan ng Solusyon!”, shall include a reel making contest for a more creative way of nutrition information dissemination, an infographic contest to help netizens visualize nutrition information better and the second season of the Idol ko si Nanay Nutrition School on Air (via Facebook).

These activities are also consistent with the national Nutrition Month Campaign which uses hashtags #NutrisyongSapatParaSaLahat #NewNormalNaNutrisyon with the activities featured in the National Nutrition Council’s webpage.

The campaign hopes to influence the community’s health and nutrition choices by providing correct and timely information about nutrition to ultimately address the region’s nutrition situation which remains significant despite the decrease in prevalence with over 72,000 children under five years of age suffering long-term malnutrition (stunting/potot),  17,884 are shown to be acutely malnourished (wasted/niwang)  while the sudden change in lifestyle brought about by the new normal has also affected overnutrition with  23,441 children under five years of age assessed as overweight (OPT 2021).

The social media campaign launch will be held simultaneous with the region’s 48th Nutrition Month launching on 01 July 2022 at the SM City Consolacion, Consolacion, Cebu. Catch the program as it is broadcasted live on NNC 7’s Facebook page at 1:30 PM. //NGS
