Borbon, Cebu. The Municipal Nutrition Committee of Borbon conducted a 3-day training on the Philippine Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition. Building the capacities to health and nutrition workers is one key ingredient in making frontliners for nutrition ready and adept to deliver quality health and nutrition services.
The PIMAM training was identified by the Borbon Municipal Nutrition Committee as they recognize the effects of COVID-19 to nutrition especially to children 0-59 months or <5 years of age. Through this training, nutrition workers were equipped on the management of acute malnutrition and contribute to the improvement of the survival rate of children in their community.
The training held on 24-26 May 2022 at Poblacion, Borbon Gym was attended by the thirty-eight (38) Barangay Nutrition Scholars and Barangay Health Workers of the municipality. The participants were also taught on how to fill out the forms to be used for the implementation of the PIMAM program as well as monitoring, and the reporting system of the program.
The activity was facilitated by the municipal team headed by Public Health Nurse and Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator Mrs. Marilou Autentico, Nutrition Focal for Nutrition Ms. Daisy Marie Mosqueda, and Nutritionist-Dietitian II of DOH CV- CHD, NNC 7 Mr. Teresito M. Caayaman III.
