Borbon, Cebu - The Borbon Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) started their Barangay First 1000 Days (BF1KD) monitoring in April of 2022. All 19 barangays of the said municipality were monitored by the team composed of the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Dr. Corazon V. Dotillos, Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator Ms. Marilou Autentico, NDP Focal Person Ms. Daisy Marie Mosqueda, and ND II/HRH-N assigned in the area Mr. Teresito M. Caayaman.

The monitoring team noted that the Barangay Nutrition Committees are continuing the promotion of exclusive breastfeeding, helping moms to achieve proper latching and any other activities related to the First 1000 days. The team also appreciated the practice of mothers supporting other mothers, especially those first-time moms in their journey to motherhood to improve the health and nutrition status of their children.

The BF1KD is a project initiated by Nutrition International, in partnership with the Department of Health and Hellen Keller International that provides health and nutrition services to pregnant women and young children during their critical First 1000 days of life, considered a golden window of opportunity for nutrition improvement.

The Borbon MNC also provides 5kgs of rice in each BF1KD session to encourage mothers, caregivers and even trained health personnel to participate in the program. // ND II Teresito M. Caayaman III, RND
