ISKN Season 2Consolacion, Cebu – The National Nutrition Council Region VII with the Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development 7 (MIND 7) launched the Idol ko si Nanay (IKSN) Nutrition School On Air (NSOA) Season 2 on 01 July 2022 at SM City Consolacion in time of the regional launching of the 48th Nutrition Month celebration in Central Visayas.

Ms. Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon, JD, Senior Reporter of The Freeman and the President of MIND 7 presented the background of the program and introduced the 50 official enrollees of IKSN. 

IKSN is a learning module developed by National Nutrition Council to strengthen the holistic community-based intervention through nutrition education and promotion for behavior change. This is a group of learning sessions that will serve as a companion intervention to improve and enhance the knowledge and practices of mothers and caregivers on nutrition and early development services in the first 1000 days that can be used in their day to day lives.

The objectives of the program as explained by Ms. Palaubsanon comprised of the following: to increase the knowledge of enrollees on the importance of nutrition in the first 1000 days by 80%; to generate commitment of all participants to practice maternal health, exclusive breast-feeding, and appropriate complementary feeding; to promote key messages of the first 1000 days and 10 Kumainments; and lastly to generate at least 1k reach in NNC 7 facebook page during facebook live classes.

She further shared that the venue of the program will be in the National Nutrition Council Region VII’s official facebook page. The topic of the NSOA season 2 shall focus on early childcare and development in the first 1000 days and will consist of 10 modules. Season 2 of said module aims to develop more interest in learning about nutrition especially in caring for young children among student-enrollees.
