Cebu City – The blue plate of Pinggang Pinoy represents the recommended Filipino Food Plate for Teens. The blue color of the plate is the same color of the sky and the sea. It is a color that conveys a sense of strength, dependability, and coolness – meanings associated with the favorable qualities of teenagers.
Since the start of the pandemic, kids and teenagers stayed at home. Decreasing their outdoor activities and limits their chance for socialization. Teenagers are bound to go outside of their comfort zone for them to develop skills and abilities that would prepare them for adult life. Teenagers are bound to make their own choices like their favorite music, fashion, sports, and of course… food! They should also be able to make decisions for their own body and health.
Here are some tips for teenagers:
- Know the Changes in your Body – as teens encounter puberty, they go through a significant change in their bodies. Such changes will affect their mood and behaviors, thus the need for them to know these changes.
- Choose Healthy Foods and Drinks – take control of what type and how much you want to do it. Teens can have sweet or salty food cravings. Choose healthy food and drinks for a healthier you!
- Get Involved in Sports – sports can be an effective way for teenagers to stay active. Join in sports activities which spark your interest.
The blue plate of Pinggang Pinoy would be a great help for teenagers in choosing the right kind of food and the right amount of food per meal.
The Pinggang Pinoy also has other colors: Green for pregnant and lactating women, Brown for adults, Red for the elderly, and Orange for kids. See more features about them on the NNC Region 7 webpage.
