Naga, Cebu Province - The City Nutrition Committee of Naga launched their nutrition month celebration with a Nutri-Walk, plying the major streets of the city. This was held on July 4 and was attended by 150 participants composed of the CNC members, BNS, BHWs, and other City Health Office staff.
The Naga CNC also spearheaded a Nutri-Talk that expounded on the First 1000 Days and discussed subtopics on family planning, HIV prevention, maternal transmission, WASH, MNP supplementation, immunization, and infant and young child feeding.
The Nutri-Talk aimed to promote good maternal nutrition to the public is held every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 5 selected barangays at barangays Cogon, Inayagan, Tinaan, and Langtad. The first 3 sessions was joined by 50 attendees that consisted of women of reproductive age and expectant mothers.
The different barangays also conducted different activities aligned with the theme “New normal na nutrisyon, sama-samang gawan ng solusyon” to commemorate the month-long observance. The NM activities of the barangays were spearheaded by the different Barangay Nutrition Committees as facilitated by CNPC Jasmin G. Genegobis, Nutrition technical staff Floramay Labalan, NDP focal person Gelen Labrado, and NDDP Juan Viktor V. Filamor.
The planning of said Nutrition Month activities was led by City Administrator Engr. Arthur S. Villamor and City Nutrition Action Officer, Dr. Camille F. Peñalosa, and was attended by the CNC members and department heads of the city.
The 48th Nutrition Month celebration of this industrial city will be culminated with Ulirang Ina competition on July 29, at 1 PM in Enan Chiong Activity Center. This is an institutionalized activity of the CNC that encourages mothers to exclusively breastfeed their babies for 6 months.
