Badian, Cebu – The municipality of Badian, 98 kilometers southwest of Cebu City planned to culminate their month-long celebration of the 48th Nutrition Month with Tabo sa Badian. The Tabo held on 29 July 2022 at the NFA grounds showcased the produce of farmers of the municipality. The Badian Tourism Office took charge of the activity including the preparation of the short program and awarding of the winners of the contests.
The celebration was launched on 01 July 2022 with a motorcade to formally open the campaign. After which, there was a tree planting of fruit bearing trees at the NFA grounds. The short program that discussed the 2022 Nutrition Month theme capped the launching event. For the sustaining activity the Department of Education led the conduct of a slogan and poster making contest, and Nutri-tik-tok contest. The midwives and nurses assigned in barangays also initiated mother’s classes. There was also an orientation of the BNS and BHW on Mother Infant and Young Child Feeding, Child Growth Standard, and Integrated Management of Childhood Illness.
The above activities were agreed upon by the members of the Municipal Nutrition Committee during its meeting held on 10 June 2022 at Badian Municipal Session Hall. This was participated in by representatives of Department of Agriculture, Department of Education, Badian District Hospital, National Food Authority, Rural Health Unit, and other agencies of the LGUs. MNAO Dr. Michael Lester M. Panogan and MNPC Mae Angelie Vasquez facilitated the meeting.
Nutrition Month celebration is one of the important activities in the municipality of Badian, pre-pandemic. They used to have a lot of activities to create awareness for good nutrition.
