Oslob, Cebu - The Municipal Nutrition Committee of Oslob culminated their 2022 Nutrition Month celebration with a Nutri-Quizbowl. The activity was held on 29 July 2022 at the Oslob Social Hall. Facilitated by the RHU staffs with the support of MHO, Dr. Maria Teresa Malazarte, and MNPC, Marichu Alfaro, the activity was participated by all 21 BNSs and paired with a BHW of their respective barangays.

The Nutri-Quiz bowl was the first in a long time that Oslob conducted as one of the Nutrition Month activities of this town popular for its friendly butandings (whale sharks). Each of the participants were given handouts to study which were the 2022 Nutrition Month talking points and the contents of the BNS handbook.

The contestants who represented their barangays were in pairs, 1 BNS and 1 BHWs. The quiz bowl had 3 parts: Easy, which was multiple-choice category; Medium, a mix of multiple choice and identification; and Hard, most questions where Identification. The winner of the Nutri-quiz bowl who won after a tie-breaking question was the team from barangay Bangcogon.

The event was full of fun and excitement. According to the participants they enjoyed the activity so much because they felt involved and they learned a lot about nutrition and the key messages that the theme “New normal na nutrisyon, sama-samang gawan ng solusyon!” carried, which is the essence of Nutrition Month. The organizers hoped to host the same event next nutrition month but in a bigger scale including other Departments of the LGU as a way to spread information about nutrition. // ND II Bea Margaux E.
