Consolacion, Cebu - The Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) of this town capacitated their BNS, Midwife, Nurses, Dentist, DTTB, HIV CHOW, and BHWs on Maternal, Infant and Young Child Feeding Nutrition (MIYCN). The training was conducted last 24-27 May 2022 at the 3rd Level, amphitheater of Consolacion. A total of 65 pax all in all who participated in the training.
Nutritionist Dietitian I Sheila Mae R. Awing from province and Nutritionist Dietitian II Geraldine Mae S. Pausanos from DOH-NNC 7 acted as resource person for the first 2 days of the training together with one of the Public Health Nurses of Consolacion Ms. Therese Anne S. Gelig who also discussed one of the modules and shared her personal experience to enhance learning of participants. Different activities such as demonstration, return demonstrations and role play were conducted. The attendees showed an active and engaging participation throughout the training.
On the 3rd and 4th Day Nutritionist Dietitian II Sarah Belle Antiola and Nutritionist Dietitian IV Fredrick Carl Te from DOH Region 7 facilitated the discussion. Continuation of the remaining module was conducted. In between a Zumba session was done to energize the participants. Child Growth Standard and PIMAM was also discussed after the whole module for MIYCN was done.
For PIMAM, identification and intervention for SAM and MAM was thoroughly expounded by ND IV Te. Child growth standard on the other hand was elaborated by ND II Antiola. Proper height and weight taking, plotting using the ECCD Card, determining the nutritional status using the CGS Chart Table was also done.
Overall, the participants were able to grasp the inputs shared from the training and the MNC is hopeful that they will be able to apply it to their different barangays.
