Cebu City – The National Nutrition Council Region VII participated in the second and third quarter meeting of the Regional Implementation Team (RIT) VII of the RPRH Law (R.A. 10354) called upon by the Commission on Population and Development Region VII as secretariat of the said body. The meeting took place on 11 August 2022 at a conference room of the Applied Nutrition Center (ANC) in Banilad, Cebu City. The meeting was attended by 36 participants from government agencies and representatives from the different NGOs.
One of the highlights of the event was the ceremonial signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between CPD 7 and NNC 7. Whereas stated in the MOU that NNC shall serve as the secretariat to the Regional Nutrition Committee and other technical committees. The promotion of Family Planning and empowering Filipino families through responsible parenthood stipulated under the responsible parenthood and reproductive health (RPRH) law, wherein NNC 7 shall integrate its services with CPD 7 and for the latter to ensure that CPD 7 programs will have nutrition consideration and objectives. As partners both agencies will share knowledge, experience, skills, data, and resources in integrating the RPFP and POPDEV programs in order to fulfill the objectives of the said law RA 10354 and vice versa for the the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition.
The signing of the MOU was done by NNC Region VII Regional Program Coordinator, Dr. Parolita A. Mission and CPD 7 Regional Director, Atty. Bruce N. Ragas.
