Discovering NNC Interns

Cebu City – Ms. Bhea Daradar, one of the BS Mathematics interns of the National Nutrition Council (NNC) when asked if she has heard about NNC prior to their internship, replied that “I only knew about NNC sa akong kauban sa eskwelahan kay tungod nangita mig agency or company na pwede mi maka OJT”. With that she also shared that when she heard about NNC7 she quoted “Sa pangalan palang makaingon ko nga ang NNC kay isa ka agency that focuses on nutrition”. Pero sa programs na ginabuhat or handle sa NNC, ang OPT ra akong nahibaw-an kay naa koy na kit-an na mga taga barangay sa amoa na mag timbang sa mga bata”

The National Nutrition Council Region VII accepts interns with BS Mathematics as the newest. As host agency, it is good to know what their experience were during their government exposure and public health nutrition experience.

One question asked was that as a student-intern in NNC7 and as a citizen in the community, in her opinion, did the agency made an impact in terms of the policies, and effect of programs, projects or activities offered. Ms. Daradar answered, “I can say the programs, activities, projects and plans offered by NNC was effective kay nakita nako sa mga datos, since we were able to help in summarizing the MELLPI pro results, naay mga improvement og ubay-ubay sad sa mga lugar sa Central Visayas ang nagbuhat sa ilang mga himoonon para mapadayon ang programa sa nutrition of the different LGUs even in times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the interns exposed on the different activities of the agency during their stint on the whole month of June 2022 at the height of the preparation and implementation of regional plan for the 48th Nutrition Month campaign, the student-intern realized and opined that “A greater impact to the community could be achieved if ang ubang ahensya sa gobyerno mosuporta sad sa mga programa na makabenepisyo ang mga Pilipino. Labi na kung kini naglangkob sa himsog na kalawasan ug nutrisyon sa mga tawo.” // DMO II Christine Lopez, RND
