Cebu City – NNC 7 together with representatives from the regional offices of region 3 and 10 shared their strategies and techniques on how they utilized social media platforms for nutrition promotion. All the 3 regions have similar strategies for improved nutrition communication, especially the transition during the outset of the pandemic and moving forward towards the new normal.
The Nutrition Foundation of the Philippines (NFA), Inc. convened representatives from 3 regional offices of the National Nutrition Council in a focused group discussion (FGD) to gather data from the regional offices on their efforts in disseminating accurate nutrition information using the social media. NFP is part of the Southeast Asia Public Health Nutrition Network (SEA-PHN) a partnership of different nutrition societies and corporate companies, dedicated to promotion public health nutrition. The network will spearhead a webinar on the “Use of Social Media in Nutrition and Physical Activity Promotion” on August 23, 2022.
During the FGD, the participants also expressed the challenges of the 3 Regions promoting nutrition using this platform, one of which is how to reach the audiences without internet connection, how to specifically make a niche and reach the target market for accurate nutrition information.
The webinar organized by the network aimed to share the experiences, challenges, and struggles of nutritionists in utilizing social media platforms for the promotion of nutrition and physical activity in the public health setting. // DMO II Gab Flores, RND
