Cebu City - Senator Maria Imelda Josefa R. Marcos and A/Sec. and NNC Executive Director Dr. Azucena M. Dayanghirang will grace Central Visayas NAO Congress and 2022 Grand Nutrition Awards. The event will be held on 16 September at the Summit Galeria Hotel, Cebu City. A/Sec Dayanghirang will deliver a keynote address and Sen. Marcos will be the Guest of Honor.
The 17th congress with the theme “Kalig-ong Nutrisyon, tubag sa pagtukod og maayong bag-ong NAOrmal!” is organized by the Central Visayas Association of Nutrition Action Officers, Inc. (CeVANAO, Inc.) and will be co-hosted by the National Nutrition Council Region VII and the Central Visayas Regional Nutrition Committee.
The congress theme, which corresponds to the 48th Nutrition Month theme, will focus on Nutrition Resiliency as the key to creating a better new normal. Provincial, city, municipality, and barangay nutrition action officers, local nutrition committee members, and nutrition advocates from all over Central Visayas will attend the event.
This year’s congress will be conducted for the participants to be able to: 1) shed light on the importance of building nutrition resiliency in the new normal, 2) state the advantages and disadvantages of fad diets, 3) discuss the key elements of podcasting and vlogging essential to promote and advocate good nutrition in today’s generation, and 4) articulate the past accomplishments, financial standing, and membership status of the association.
The 2022 Grand Nutrition Awards (GNA) on the other hand, aim to achieve the following objectives: 1) acknowledge the different local government units that had shown exemplary performance which contributed to the improvement of the Central Visayas nutrition situation, specifically in their respective communities, 2) give recognition to Local Nutrition Focal Persons who showed outstanding performance in the field of nutrition program management, 3) share good nutrition practices and projects for possible replication by other LGUs, and 4) give tribute to retired colleagues who have given so much contribution to the nutrition program implementation in the region.
