Dr. Tuzon shows Radyo Kahimsug members how its doneSta. Maria, Ilocos Sur –  Relatively a rookie in managing community radio stations, DYNE Radyo Kahimsug, went on a soul searching trip to the northern part of the country to get tips from one the Philippine’s more successful community radio station, 97.3  Radyo Kailian. Radyo Kahimsug is the second community radio station in Central Visayas.

Anchoring on the fact that both of the community  radios are run by State Colleges, Radyo Kahimsug, which is run by the Cebu Technological University – Barili Campus is hopeful in getting tips in running a school-based community radio station from its Radyo Kailian counterpart. The station is under the supervision of NNC 7 and its media network MIND 7.

Radyo Kailian, situated at the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College in the small town of Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur is two flights of one hour each plus a four hour road trip from Cebu City. It is run by the above mentioned school under the management of ISPSC President Dr. Rafael B. Querubin and by radio consultant Dr. Gloria Tuzon and is under the supervision of NNC 1 and its media network, RONDA 1.

To take up programming strategies, delegates from Central Visyas: Radyo Kahimsog including CRC Chair Ms. Mary Jane M. Pañares, CRC Vice Chair Dr. Catalino S. Higida and technical director Engr. Jerome B. Aguilar, NO I Norre Jean V. Delos Santos and NPC Dr. Parolita A. Mission, had an hour radio guesting over Radyo Kailian to get the feel of their studio and had an open forum with Dr. Tuzon for tips and strategies in improving and maintaining the station’s programming and sustainability initiatives.

The visit geared the personnel of Radyo Kahimsog with new tactics to oomph up its programming and operations.///NGS
