Makati City – NNC 7 through Nutrition Officer III Nasudi G. Soluta Development Management Officer II Christine M. Lopez joined the training on Operation Timbag Plus manual of operations held on 12 to 14 December 2022 at Tiara Oriental Hotel Makati City. The training was attended by different representatives from the 17 regions in the country.

The capability-building activity tackled the basic concepts and procedures of the OPT Plus highlighting its objective and purpose in the community to generate data on the nutritional status of children at the barangay level and to identify nutritionally at-risk children and guide the local government units in prioritizing nutrition programs, projects, and activities.

The importance of the OPT Plus timeline of activities was also discussed especially on the flow of the submission of reports from the barangay level to the regional level and up to the national level. It was also shared during the activity the different recommended tools or equipment for weighing and measuring length or height of children.

An in-depth OPT plus activity flowchart was also explained during the session, outlining the five-flow step of activities and the resources needed in the conduct of OPT plus activities. It was emphasized that OPT plus activities should be included in the Barangay Nutrition Action Plan and Annual Investment Plan in the respective LGUs. // DMO II Christine Lopez, RND
