Bohol Province – On 21–24 November 2022, the Bohol Provincial Nutrition Committee thru the provincial disaster risk reduction management office conducted a Nutrition in Emergency (NIE) and Information Management Training Workshop. This was held at Best Western Plus The Ivywall Resort-Panglao. The training workshop was attended by municipal health officers, nutrition action officers, and municipal DRRM officers. A total of 45 municipalities attended the training.
Nutrition Officer III Ms. Nasudi G. Soluta of NNC 7 with NDs II Ms. Sarah Belle Antiola and Ms. Annie Claire Anasco of DOH CV/CHD served as resource persons. The training was facilitated by the PNC secretariat led by DNPC Ms. Glenda G. Grafilo together with PNC staff Mr. Ryan Palma and Ms. Machiavia Luida Caliao. The funding requirement for the capacity building activity was handled by PDRMO headed by Dr. Anthony R. Damalerio.
The primary goals are to prevent deaths and protect people's right to nutrition. Topics covered during the training were Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Cluster Approach; Introduction to Nutrition in Emergencies; Disaster Risk Reduction and Management - Nutrition; Information Management in Support to Nutrition in Emergencies in the Philippines, Information Management Concepts and Tools; Roles of IMO in the Humanitarian Content and Data Privacy Act. Lecture discussion, simulation techniques, and exercises were the teaching modalities employed.
All the participants were able to make their Nutrition in Emergency Management Plan. Two randomly selected municipalities presented their NiE plans, namely the municipalities of Calape, represented by Mr. Meneleo C. Guibao, and San Miguel, represented by Ms. Clarissa C. Orevillo.
