Bohol Province - The Provincial Nutrition Committee Secretariat under the supervision of DNPC Glenda G. Grafilo distributed Pinggang Pinoy and The First 1000 Days manual to the different municipalities in the province.
The First 1000 Days Manual was produced by the National Nutrition Council to guide health and nutrition workers in the delivery of nutrition interventions in this critical period of the child’s life. The term "first 1,000 days" describes a child's life from the time of conception until the child turns two years old (24 months). During this period, their immune system, body, and brain all significantly develop and grow. The health of the woman during pregnancy, her diet, and stress levels can affect the unborn child's destiny.
Pinggang Pinoy on the other hand is a visual food guide that makes use of the commonly used food plate model to explain the proper food group proportions on a per-meal basis to satisfy the energy and nutrient requirements of adults or a specific group of people. The Provincial Nutrition Council laminated Pinggang Pinoy and distributed them to the Barangay Nutrition Scholars of the province.
An itemized guide was distributed to the municipalities of Alburquerque, Alicia, Anda, Baclayon, Balilihan, Batuan, Buenavista, Calape, Candijay, Carmen, Catigbian, Clarin, Corella, Cortes, Danao, Dimiao, Duero, Garcia Hernandez, Getafe, Guindulman, Inabanga, Jagna, Lila, Loay, Loboc, Loon, Maribojoc, Pilar, Sagbayan, San Isidro, Sevilla, Sierra Bullones, Sikatuna, Talibon, Ubay, and Valencia. // DMO II Jenelyn A.
