Siquijor, Siquijor – The Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) of Siquijor, Siquijor intensified their resiliency in managing emergencies and disasters by holding a training workshop on Nutrition in Emergency and Information Management for the members of the MNC. The activity was held on 12-16 December 2022 at the FIG Sunset View Resort, San Juan, Siquijor.
More than 20 participants joined the local government’s capacity-building initiative. Aside from the members of the MNC, the DRRM officer and personnel from the Rural Health Unit also participated in the 5-day training. The week-long event was also graced by the MNC Chair and Municipal Mayor Hon. Richard C. Quezon.
DMO II Gabe Henriel P. Sucalit of NNC 7 served as a resource speaker while ND II Mary Grace C. Adolfo of DOH CVCHD/NNC 7 acted as a workshop facilitator. Included in the 5-day training were technical discussions, practical exercises, simulation workshops, and different video presentations on Nutrition in Emergencies.
The training enabled the participants to know the rationale of managing and implementing Nutrition in Emergencies. It is imperative that the LGU must demonstrate competencies and knowledge of the different protocols and appropriate interventions for nutrition during emergencies and disasters. As part of the output of the training course, the local government unit of Siquijor was able to produce a DRRM-Nutrition in Emergencies Plan. // DMO II Gabe Henriel P. Sucalit, RND
