2022 Dec27 TalibonTalibon, Bohol – With the success of the visit of selected Nutrition Action Officers from the Central Visayas Association of Nutrition Action Officers Inc. (CeVANAO Inc.), the Municipality of Talibon from the Province of Bohol is now ready to accept learning LGUs to their municipality.

The Learning Hub for Enhanced and Revitalized Nutrition (LHEARN) project is an enhanced version of the usual ‘Lakbay Aral’. In Central Visayas, Talibon has been selected as the first LHEARN LGU. The LHEARN Project is part of the three main components of the PPAN Peer Learning Approach. It is a method that encourages the sharing of knowledge and experiences on nutrition between LGUs with low and high performance to enhance the management of their nutrition programs within the framework of the PPAN LGU Mobilization Strategy.

Local chief executives and various local nutrition workers are considered "peers" in this context. Through the years, the local nutrition committee of Talibon has managed to maintain its Nutrition Honor Award with the continued efforts of the members of the nutrition program and support from their local chief executive, Hon. Janet Aurestila – Garcia.

In LHEARN, the LGU visitors are called the learning LGUs, the LHEARN LGU will prepare plenary sessions that cover their local implementation of nutrition PPAs in the PPAN: Nutrition Specific, Nutrition Sensitive, and Enabling Programs. The learning LGUs will also visit project sites and selected barangays for learning exchanges. Following the successful NAO visit in November, LGU Talibon is keen to host other learning LGUs for the knowledge exchange visit. / ND II Franz Cassandra R. Ontina, RND
