DNPC Julieta talks about IYCF counselling at the IYCF Refresher TrainingTagbilaran City -- Targeting the recent earthquake’s hardest hit areas, NNC 7 conducts the 3rd and 4th batches of the IYCF Refresher Courses with Gender Concerns after its postponement due to the Bohol earthquake . The refresher courses were held on 10-12 February and 13-15 February respectively at the Reyna’s the Haven, and Garden Hotel and Restaurant.

The training is a kick-off activity of the Bohol Provincial Nutrition Committee as it resumes its normal nutrition program activities in addition to the on-going relief and rehabilitation activities.

Closing said training series, as the last two batches to be conducted in Central Visayas, participants and facilitators gave special attention to the earthquake rehabilitation plans in the issues and concerns they have raised during the event. Such concerns included the increased Global Acute Malnutrition rates (11.8%) recently reported in the area as well as the possible influences of support groups in the rehabilitation of these GAM cases.


The training that was to have been conducted in October 2013 was postponed due to the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that shook Bohol on 15 October 2013. Municipalities affected by the earthquake were unable to send in participants because of the unstable conditions. . Municipalities included in the trainings were: Balilihan, Sagbayan, Loon, Maribojoc, Calape, Tubigon, Inabanga, Corella, Catigbian, San Isidro, Antequera, Buenavista, Loay, Sikatuna, Danao, Baclayon and Clarin. /NGS
