Dumaguete City – Dumaguete City’s Association of Barangay Nutrition Workers (their local term of BNSs) organized a Mutya ng BNS on 23 December 2022 at Barangay Batinguel covered court. The event was participated by nine (9) barangays of Dumaguete City and represented by the following candidates:
- Gina Zerna of Brgy Cadawinonan
- Mayralona Andagan of Brgy Batinguel
- Reizel Gio of Poblacion 8
- Lina May Balde of Brgy Talay
- Edlyn Argallon of Brgy Daro
- Jo Anne Estrada of Brgy Piapi
- Mansueta Tubaga of Brgy Candau-ay
- Mary Jane Alama of Brgy Taclob
- Claire Antony of Brgy Calindagan
This pageant was conducted to generate funds for the BNWs to support their special project of providing medical assistance and gratuity pays to retiring BNWs. It also showcased the innate talent and creativity of front-line volunteer nutrition workers. The income-generating fund was pulled off by collecting ticket fees and inviting sponsors to the event. The cooperation demonstrated by the association officers and members had proven to strengthen the group’s camaraderie. It also provided an air of fun to culminate the year’s challenges with their tasks and duties as BNWs.
And for the winners: second runner up was BNS Claire Antony of Brgy Calindagan, first runner up was BNS Mayralona Andagan og Brgy Batinguel, and BNS Mary Jane Alama of Brgy Taclobo was crowned the Mutya ng BNS 2022. The activity has generated an amount enough to serve as “seed fund” for the proposed medical assistance and gratuity benefit for Dumaguete City’s nutrition heroes.
