Cebu City - In-charge of the management of nutrition program in Central Visayas and as the secretariat to the Regional Nutrition Committee, the National Nutrition Council Region VII lead by Dr. Parolita A. Mission conducted their annual Program Implementation Review (PIR) for 2022 and the 2023 planning of the regional office. Part of its internal management operations, the activity was held on 9th to 10th of January 2023 at the Golden Valley Hotel, Cebu City.
The session on the first day was an in-depth discussion on the review of the 2022 work and financial plan accomplishments of the different desk of the regional office, that included nutrition surveillance, nutrition policy and planning, nutrition information education, Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program, and the administration & finance. The review also covered the rating of overall quality, timeliness, and efficiency of the different programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) initiated by the team. Insights of the different hindering factors, facilitating factors and recommendations of the sighted strengths and weaknesses of PPAs implemented were also tackled including good practices that can be continued in 2023.
The second day focused on the 2023 planning, that comprised the preparation of the regional performance commitment, individual program commitment, identifying the roles and responsibilities and the deliverables of the different team members, key result areas and timelines. These efforts aimed to contribute to NNC’s organizational outcome of improved access of quality nutrition and nutrition-sensitive services by influencing NGOs and NGAs to implement development programs with nutrition objectives, considerations, or components, mobilizing LGUs to implementing quality nutrition programs, initiate activities to increase recall of nutrition messages with an end in view of reducing stunting and wasting in Central Visayas.
The two-day activity ensures the assessment of the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the management of the nutrition program in the region and make better plans and implementation schemes for the year to make a difference in health and nutritional well-being of the people in Central Visayas as it strives to make “nutrisyon sapat para sa lahat”. // DMO II Christine Lopez, RND
