Cebu City – One of the most beloved breakfast foods not only in the Philippines but all over the world is pancake. Who could resist this thick, buttery, fluffy pancakes, right? It could be paired with your favorite hot chocolate or sikwate, or your choice of coffee. Pancakes are flat and round and contain butter, milk, flour, and eggs. You can also buy a pre-mixed box at your local grocery store.
In the Philippines, pancakes aren’t just for breakfast. You can see a lot of stories selling pancakes for snack time or what we Filipino call merienda near schools and workplaces. People love pancakes because of their sweet and buttery flavor but must be consumed moderately. It is high in sugar and fat that could cause high blood pressure and diabetes mellitus.
But you can be healthy and creative at the same time. Pancakes can also be turned into sandwiches, pair it with your lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes or serve it with fruits instead of artificial syrups. Banana pancakes are also a healthy alternative. You can enjoy delicious pancakes but guilt-free!
