La Libertad, Negros Oriental – The Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) of La Libertad spearheaded by its MNC Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel L. Iway conducted its first quarter joint Expanded Local Health Board and MNC meeting on 14 February 2023 at La Libertad Municipal Hall. Fourteen (14) MNC members/head of offices attended the meeting.

ND II Chutsvieka May Pacatang of DOH CVCHD/NNC 7 presented and oriented the MNC members regarding the upcoming Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program (TKSP) Phase 4. The TKSP Phase 4 will provide dietary supplementation to 6–23-month-old children enrolled in the program. LGU La Libertad is one of the 2 municipalities in the province of Negros Oriental included in this phase of the program.

The program launch, fully supported by MNC Chair Iway was held on 16 February 2023 in time with the regional commencement done simultaneously with other LGUs in Central Visayas covered by the program. An allocation of Php 32,000 was approved by the mayor for the launch alone to support the launching activities that happened in Barangays Guihob, Mandapaton, Nasunggan and Solonggon.

This early, the MNC of La Libertad through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office is preparing for an LGU funded TKSP this year 2023 targeting other barangays not covered by NNC and they are hopeful that the health and nutritional well-being of every La Libertadnons especially the children will improve through the TKSP and other nutrition initiatives of the MNC.  // ND II Chutsvieka May Pacatang, RND
