Winners of the Mutya ng BNSCebu City – Besting the other candidates, Ms. Maria Christ Joy P. Mañago of Mandaue City won the much-coveted crown of Mutya ng BNS 2013 held on 07 November 2013 at the New White Gold House, North Reclamation Area, Cebu City.

This is the second year that Mandaue City has won the crown with last year’s winner Ms. Jovelyn F. Asingua also coming from Mandaue City.


On the question during the casual interview, how she can spread good nutrition, basing on this year’s theme “BNS, Kaabag sa Pagsabwag sa Hustong Nutrisyon”, she said that she can serve as a role model as she herself was exclusively breastfeeding her one and only baby boy when he was still 6 months old and below and provided appropriate complementary food after 6 months while continued breastfeeding him even beyond two years.

Ms. Mañago also won Best in Production Number and Best in Long Gown. Winning 1st Runner Up was from Madridejos, Cebu, Ms. Leslie D. Quezon and 2nd Runner Up was Ms. Rubelyn Rosil of Bayawan City, Negros Oriental. Other minor awards given were Most Photogenic won by Ms. Janine L. Casia of Danao City while Best in Talent was won by Ms. Regeline S. Abaño of Cebu City.

The motif of this year’s Mutya ng BNS circled around their local festivals which were also aimed to promote their LGUs celebrations. For the final question, photos were shown depicting BNS activities and they were asked a question related to the picture.

The Mutya ng BNS serves as an educational outlet at the same time providing an avenue for the BNSs candidates to showcase their talents and wits. //DFB
