Cebu City – The National Nutrition Council Region VII caps the second month of the year with the conduct of the 2023 Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro orientation on 28 February 2023, via zoom conference call.
The orientation which was attended by 29 members of the regional nutrition evaluation team (RNET) and alternate representatives from 16 RNC member agencies is part of the preparatory activities of the region prior to the actual conduct of the MELLPI Pro in March this year.
The orientation started with a brief discussion on the MELLPI Pro to provide an overview to the old and new members of the RNET. This was followed by a run through of the tools to be used for monitoring both the local nutrition committees and the local nutrition focal persons where members were refreshed on how to score and what documents to look for as basis, the scoring system of each level, and the regional and national award system for the activity.
In her message during the opening program, NNC 7 Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Parolita A. Mission stressed the significant roles of each agency in the conduct of the monitoring, especially in providing the needed technical assistance to the LGUs. Dr. Mission also thanked the RNET for signifying their intent to be part of the monitoring team.
The core values of nutrition workers (evaluators) were also reiterated by Ms. Piladelfa S. Gaviola of PAN - Cebu Chapter in her discussion on the roles and responsibilities of the RNET before, during, and after the conduct of the MELLPI Pro.
The meeting ended with the finalization of the 2023 MELLPI Pro schedule and the initial commitment of each agency to the LGU assignments.
The 2023 MELLPI is set to begin on 29 March 2023 with two teams to be fielded in Cebu City and Lapu-lapu City as the first set of LGUs to be monitored. The annual M&E activity in the region is scheduled to end on the last week of May 2023. // Norre Jean V. delos Santos
