Cebu City – The National Nutrition Council VII welcomed the 10 new Human Resources for Health for Nutrition (HRH-N) for the calendar year 2023. During the 3rd monthly meeting of the HRH-N, the newly hired Nutritionist – Dietitians (NDs) were introduced to the other earlier deployed NDs in the different provinces of the region.
The Department of Health (DOH) under the National Health Workforce Support System (NHWSS) deploys the NDs to help local government units in catalyzing and scaling up their local nutrition programs. This newly hired nutrition squad will be detailed to the different priority municipalities in the region within this month.
The prioritization of areas is based on the stunting rates of the LGU according to the 2022 Operation Timbang Plus results, the status of the local nutrition committee and cluster functionality report, and priority areas of the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Program (PMNP) of DOH.
The NNC 7 secretariat and the senior NDDPs provided tips and advice on how to effectively advocate nutrition programs and have a stable working mentality that they can bring with them. With the orientation and crash course on Nutrition Program Management, these new members of the team are now ready to mobilize LGUs for the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition. // ND II Franz Cassandra R.
