Cebu City – As the region welcomes the new human resources for health for nutrition, the National Nutrition Council Region VII conducts a three-day crash course training on the Nutrition Program Management training on 1 – 3 March 2023 at the DOH Mini Conference Room, DOH CV CHD Compound, Cebu City.
Ten (10) new HRH-Ns were present during the three-day training where they were also oriented on the basic nutrition program management skills.
The short course was composed of 7 modules and was discussed by the NNC 7 technical staff and DOH CV CHD representatives. Among the topics discussed include the presentation on the importance of investing in nutrition; the present nutritional status of Central Visayas and the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition, and the government’s strategies in response to the nutrition problem.
Furthermore, participants were also oriented on the Central Visayas LGU Mobilization Program where they learned the steps of drafting the local nutrition action plan (LNAP) and the different ways to effectively integrate the LNAP into the LGU’s local governance and development system. Also included in their orientation is the introduction of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) Program as well as the core values and skills of nutrition workers.
The crash course was organized to provide the newly hired NDs with an overview of the nutrition program and guide them as they guide and help their assigned local government units navigate and manage the nutrition program in their areas of assignment.
The three-day exercise ended with the sharing of DOH CV CHD administrative instructions and initial planning for their deployment. These newly hired HRH-Ns is set to be deployed in the 24 municipalities in Cebu province and 3 municipalities in Bohol province in March 2023. // NO III (PMNP) Norre Jean V. delos Santos
