Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental – After completing the whole NSOA module entitled “Paaralang Panghimpapawid Ukol sa Gulay, Prutas at Wastong Nutrisyon”, DYNE Radyo Kaigsoonan produced its first Nutrition School On-Air graduates on 29 November 2016 at the Parish Hall, Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental.

Cebu City – Aiming to ensure that every salt used in every household in Central Visayas is appropriately iodized, the Regional Bantay Asin Task Force 7 (RBATF 7) led by the Food and Drug Administration 7 conducted an unannounced monitoring in selected salt manufacturers and dealers in Metro Cebu on 22 November 2016.
The monitoring activity was done to ensure that salts produced and sold by the manufacturers and dealers follow the standard iodization of 30-70 ppm before selling it to the market. The monitoring team was composed of representatives from FDA 7, DILG 7, DOST 7, PNP RO7, Cebu Provincial Health Office, Cebu City Health Office, and NNC R7. They visited Arvin International Marketing Inc. and Ong Kin King Co. Inc.

Cebu Province – Recognizing the critical years of growth and development which happens between pregnancy up to the first two years of human life, the National Nutritional Council Region VII together with the local government units (LGUs) of Dalaguete and Tuburan signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the Early Childhood Care and Development Intervention Package in the First 1000 Days (ECCD-F1K). The signing of the MOA signifies the start of the program in the two municipalities of Cebu.
The ECCD-F1K program was developed with the hope that the nutritional gap in the critical years of growth and development of a child will be addressed.

Cebu City – Aiming to ensure that government and non-government resources are used efficiently to produce positive nutrition outcomes, the National Nutrition Council Region VII organized the 6th Annual NGO Forum on 08 November 2016 at the Golden Valley Hotel, Pelaez St., Cebu City.
With the theme “Aligning government and non-government programs for viable nutrition outcomes”, the forum was attended in by 32 participants coming from 17 different non-government organizations. These included ANCE Inc., Cebu Network for Nutrition Promotion, CURE Foundation Inc., Engender Health –Visayas Health Project, JPIC-IDC, Inc., Juanito I. King Foundation, Kadasig Parents Association Inc., NorFil Foundation Inc., Nutrition Center of the Phil., World Vision Inc., Phil. Association of Nutrition-Cebu Chapter, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation-Dolores Aboitiz Children’s Fund, Regional Agriculture and Fishery Council 7, Simply Share Foundation. The academe like the Cebu Doctors University, Cebu Normal University and University of San Carlos also joined to align their extension programs to government’s PPAN priorities.

Dumaguete City – Sixty eight (68) participants converged in the Check Inn Pension Arcade, Dumaguete City last 23 September 2016 for the Regional Dissemination Forum on the 2015 Updating of the Nutritional Status of Filipinos and Other Population Groups with the theme “Kumusta na ba ang kalusugang pang-nutrisyon ni Juan at Juana”.

Oslob, Cebu – Aiming to curb further malnutrition in their municipality, the Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) of Oslob, Cebu conducted a BNS Basic Course Training for their new and existing nineteen (19) Barangay Nutrition Scholars last 05 to 08 October 2016 held at the Oslob Parish Multi-Purpose Hall, Oslob, Cebu.
Tapped to train the 19 BNSs were the trainers from the Cebu Provincial Nutrition Committee and from the Department of Health Region VII namely: Ms. Loreza A. Lapinid, RND; Ms. Hanna Lee C. Tolentino, RND and Mr. Dave F. Bargamento, RN.
