RNC pushes Urban Gardening in the MetroCebu City – Laid in the middle of an urban poor community, the Regional Nutrition Committee pushes food security in the metro and launches its first Urban Garden Project on 14 October 2016 in the congested area of Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Apas, Cebu City.

The launching activity was led by the Department of Agriculture RO7, Cebu City Agriculture Department, and the National Nutrition Council 7 in collaboration with the Alliance of Barangay Apas Community Associations, Inc (ABACA, Inc.) though their President Ma. Linda E. Paracuelles. It was graced by thirty seven (37) participants from RNC member agencies including the DepEd R7, DSWD R7, PopCom R7, Nutrition Center of the Philippines, Philippine Association of Nutrition – Cebu Chapter, and Philippine Nurses Association – Cebu Chapter.

Central Visayas RNC launches BMI Assessment and Nutrition Counseling ProjectCebu City – In promoting healthy lifestyle and good nutrition among its member agencies, the Central Visayas Regional Nutrition Committee started its Body Mass Index Assessment & Nutrition Counseling Project at the Department of Social Welfare Development Region Office 7 on 14 October 2016.

Sir Kiko mentoring paxCebu City - NNC with MQ Mediazone conduct a four-day refresher training held at Radio Kaigsoonan in Zamboangita, Negros Oriental and at Radio Kahimsug in Cebu Technological University, Barili, Cebu on 16-19 August 2016 and 30 August to 02 September 2016, respectively.

The training aims to enhance skills in writing for radio, techniques in anchoring and producing advocacy plugs as way to capacitate radio personnel in the management of the radio stations.

800 mothers join Big Latch On  Hakab Na CEBUCebu City – The National Nutrition Council Region VII joined this year’s Big Latch On – Hakab Na, CEBU held on 06 August 2016 at the Mountain View Wing, SM Seaside City, SRP, Cebu City. The Big Latch On (BLO) is a global movement on breastfeeding that aims to boost awareness on health, economic and environmental benefits of breastfeeding as part of the National Breastfeeding Awareness Week celebration. This worldwide event aims to create a lasting network for the community with the guidance of key breastfeeding supporters at the Big Latch On--Hakab Na Cebu, a local support system for breastfeeding mothers.

Bais CNC conducts NGF lectures in FDSBais City – Grabbing the opportunity of an organized assembly, the Bais City Nutrition Committee (CNC) has incorporated an aggressive promotion of the 10 Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos thru 10 Kumainments lectures during the Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4Ps) Family Development Sessions handled by the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Having started mid-2016, the activity is viewed by the CNC as an opportunity to teach the community about good health and nutrition practices, the CNC also uses these sessions as a way to understand grassroots nutrition problems thru dialogues with participants.

Boholanos Purok Evaluation SystemTagbilaran City – As an initiative of the Bohol Provincial Nutrition Committee (PNC), the Purok Evaluation System is a strategy by the PNC to inculcate a sense of ownership of the nutrition program at the barangay level by giving barangay officials the task of managing the program at the purok level.

Conducted yearly, the monitoring and evaluation activity is done starting at the barangay level where a team created by the barangay LGU will conduct the evaluation and submit their barangay nominees to the municipal level who in turn re-evaluates the nominated puroks from the different barangays and endorses the nominees to the provincial level.
