According to Northwestern Medicine, after a cheat meal, our body increases Leptin, the “anti-starvation” hormone responsible for sending hunger messages in our brain which causes the food to burn calories faster. So, it gives some tricks thinking the food we ate is enough. So yes! Cheating a meal is okay.

2022 PMNP Tech DiscussionCebu City – Dr. Parolita A. Mission, NNC 7 Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator encouraged the different Development Management Officers in the provinces of Cebu and Negros Oriental to help enhance their LGUs’ respective local nutrition action plans (LNAP).

This was done during the Philippine Multi-sectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) Technical Discussion held on 22-23 November 2022 at the Sarrosa International Hotel, Cebu City. Organized by the Department of Health CV CHD, the said activity was attended by 12 Development Management Officers (DMOs) from Cebu and Negros Oriental Province.

2022 DSWD 4PsMandaue City, Cebu – The Department of Social Welfare and Development Region VII acknowledged the support of the National Nutrition Council Region VII in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). The certificates of appreciation were presented by DSWD 7 RD Shalaine S. Lucero during the graduation rites of 4Ps beneficiaries held at the Mandaue Sports and Cultural Complex, Mandaue City on 29 November 2022.

NNC 7 is an active member of the expanded regional advisory council (ERAC), the regional body that provides policy directions and recommendations on program implementation. The interagency body promotes regional ownership among agencies and local implementers to guarantee the availability and provision of necessary support services and access to basic services for qualified household beneficiaries.

The 4Ps is a poverty reduction strategy of the Philippine Government that provides grants to extremely poor households to provide and improve health, nutrition, and education, particularly 0-14 aged children. The program aims to foster the necessary behavior for parents to adequately perform their duties and responsibilities, particularly in investing in their children’s future.

2022 InsulinSibonga, Cebu – Costus igneus is an herbaceous plant found in tropical regions. In India, the Philippines, Central America, and the Caribbean. It is commonly known as insulin plant because of its anti-diabetic properties. Insulin plant, stepladder, and spiral plume are some of the names given to this plant, known by its botanical name as Chamaecostus cuspidatus. Consisting of nearly 150 species, costus are the largest of the family.  Although the plant is native to America, it grows densely and is found mainly in tropical climates.

In 2015, the insulin plant gained popularity in the Philippines because of its health benefit especially in lowering blood sugar naturally and safely.

2022 Kalampusan AnniversarySan Francisco, Cebu – Central Visayas’ youngest Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program DYNH 99.1 Radyo Kalampusan celebrated its third anniversary.

The event was held on 26 November 2022 through a Nutriskwela Radio Caravan were members of the Community Radio Council (CRC), station anchors and staff, and LGU representatives visit all 15 barangays in San Francisco.

The caravan was followed by an anniversary event at the Barangay Union Covered Court, San Francisco, Cebu. Attended by more than a hundred participants from all over Camotes Island, the celebration highlighted the official presentation of all the station anchors behind every successful program of the station as well as the first-ever Radyo Kalampusan Singing Battle of which 12 finalists from all over Camotes Island took part.
